Bus services threatened

We all depend on decent transport to get to work or college, to get to the doctors, to the shops or see friends. Our bus services are a lifeline and are threatened with reduction.

Stephen says, "With an increasingly elderly population, who are often no longer able to drive, and many of our lowest-paid being dependent on shift work, we need to find ways of increasing bus services both in the evening and on Sundays. Oxfordshire County Council's bus review threatens to reduce services such as the X1 between Didcot and Wantage and the 67 through Stanford-in-the-Vale. It is already impossible to travel to work by bus from villages such as Long Wittenham, which has just two buses per day."

"Money spent on buses benefits all of us, reducing congestion on the roads and loneliness amongst the elderly. I will work to improve services, not reduce them."
